DAY...18 - Bittersweet

Today has been bittersweet...We left Rhonda’s and said goodbye to Dad and headed for the the Grand Canyon.

The weather has continued to cooperate, blue skies and sunshine.  Our first stop was Sedona...To which Rick said; “this is where I want to live when I retire!”  I think we will need to win the BIG Lotto first (since the lot we saw was $325K-just the lot)!   We found an outside art and craft fair.  So, of course, we had to stop!

Such wonderful and unique finds!  We picked up a surprise to mail back to Rhonda...ssh don’t tell.  And Rick bought a new ring.  We found a man, Captain Carl’s Coin Creations, who makes incredible jewelry from coins!  I’ll post the pics, but be sure to look closely! The even had one of Pictured Rocks!  They used to live on a sailboat in Florida for 6 years.  Then he decided he wanted to make this jewelry.  They sold the boat and bought an RV.  Now they travel the country doing shows selling their wares.  They even spend time in the UP over the summers!  This is one of the aspects that makes traveling so fun...the people we meet and finding out just how small the world is!  The photographer was from a town in Indiana not too far from where we moved!

We took the back roads to the southern rim of the Grand Canyon and explored for the day (and spotted snow again...oh no).  If you are planning to make a trip out this way, I will say that WiFi is spotty at best.  I am currently writing this from the Wendy’s dining room but I lose the signal every couple of minutes.  The campground we are staying at advertises WiFi but you have to be parked in front of the office to get a signal.  And apparently neither AT&T nor Sprint cell service work in the area.  I’m not sure what does work, but those do not!
